Zitat Anfang:
"Hello to all KG-Enthusiasts worldwide!
Because of the flame-mails of RT and some others, i can't keep quiet any longer, i have got something to say about the germann point of view on the Karmann-anniversary.
First of all: We are not jealous about anything!
In germany it is usual, that i celebrate my birthday by myself and don't wait that others do that for me. Also i wait as long as the "celebrator" invites me and don't ask him "hey, it's your birthday, you've got to do something and don't forget to invite me". We wait for beeing invited.
The other thing is, that most of us germans with that "different culture" don't understand, that we (the KG-Scene) have to thank the company Karmann therefore, that they made it possible for us to buy their cars. Hello out there, first of all their goal was to make money with that, not to bring joy to the people! Also Richard asked us at the Karlsruhe KG-meeting for giving a present to the Karmann-family. Hmm, i don't know them and did they ever give a present to anyone, who bought a Karmann Ghia? I'm organized in the germann KG-scene since 1987 and i can tell you, that we've never received any support for our meetings by Karmann, except some keyrings. And we've asked them several times.
All other germann carbuilders do much much more for their oldtimers, except VW. They do nothing at all.
Another thing that made some problems to us was, that Richard asked us for money for the event. For example, we (the Karmann Ghia Club Suedhessen) are a little club with a not so big clubtreasure and i think that everyone will understand, that we don't spend a single "Pfennig" for something which won't be a sure success. Most of the germann clubs have the same problem and need their money for their own events. It is easy to deal with other people's money, if you don't carry the risk.
And one last word to Richard: If you understand geman that well, why did'nt you ask us directly for the meaning of our "rumours" in Karlsruhe? And: you recognized, that we have a different culture (hmm, sounds familiar to me). So let us keep our culture and please don't try to make us change it, or our view of the rules, which i've explained now.
So, i hope that you all now can understand the point of view of most of the germann Ghia-Enthusiasts.
I look forward to meet some of you at Osnabrueck, to have some smalltalk and maybe remove some prejudices. Oh, yes, we'll be there, if someone invites us, or an official programme is published.
Best regards
